Gelato is one of our favourite things in the world. A good gelato can make a rainy day lovely again, or fix a broken heart. As cliché as that sentence was it’s pretty accurate. Therefore finding a good gelato place was, understandably, of incredible importance to us. So when we stumbled into Dolcino we knew we’d found what we’d been looking for.

Sat in Old Market Square the Gelataria is a bright mint green both outside and in. Think Wes Anderson, especially with pops of pink paint and bikes and scooters used as quirky deco. Sit upstairs for a sweeping view of the centre of Nottingham.

Anyways, to what you really care about. The gelato.

Luka kept things nutty by choosing to top her cone with both pistachio and salted peanut butter gelato. In hindsight, opting for one chocolate scoop and one nutty scoop would’ve balanced the flavours more, but you can’t blame a girl for liking her nuts

Emily got white mint and caramel popcorn. They actually go together weirdly well. The white mint is rather refreshing against the tornado of sweet that is the caramel popcorn. That flavour comes with popcorn on top, so bonus snack!

Like most dessert places it’s pretty expensive, especially for its waffles and crepes, most of which push six pounds and up.

For our treats, so two flavours of gelato in a cone, it was £4.10. However, the scoops together were about the size of our head so I’m going to forgive that price.

All in all, the café serves up spacious vibes and straight outta Italy gelato that lightens the wallet, but waters the mouth.

What We Got: delicious gelato

What We Wish We Got: caramel brownie flapjack stacks. see picture below to witness that insane dessert.
